I think I get to keep my Jalop card. The fleet is taking shape. All Axis powers are represented. Now I need English, French, and Soviet cars so that all major players in the war are represented...wait, what?
Mrs. IM loves her new car. Taking our youngest to band practice now. I asked my mechanic what he thought and he said, “I always like your cars.”
And smiled.
If you tell me you don’t love it, I will know you are lying.
Aso, a girl in an Italian convertible is ALWAYS sexy .

This means no v12 swap for the Cressida? Doh
Car looks clean, what’s the plans for the Fiat?

Much like the axis powers during the war , I predict the following:
Given your luck, your japanese car will get hit by something big and American that knocks it out of the race.
Your German car will keep going until it has nothing left to give and then surrender.
Your Italian car’s steering will slowly fail. It will wander around without any real direction, then simply fall apart.

I fully approve of this purchase and look forward to many updates.

If you get an English car then make it a Triumph TR7

Plot twist, it’s a four speed.

I really like these, such a clean design (with bad bumpers tacked on).
Hope its reliable enough!

Wow, you really have a keeper in your life if you bought her an X 1/9 and her response is pure elation. Congrats, Sir. I don’t think you can do much better. I hope you allow yourself to be at peace for a while. You done did good.

Did the Cressida have to say bye bye?

This is the kind of car that a V4F4NG1 stealth dirty license plate would be made for. Except it's your wife's. :(

Nice!!!
Please deliver the Cressida to 97045.

Living the dream, good sir. The only thing keeping me from getting another old car or two is that I would feel bad parking them outside in Michigan winters...

X19... sounds like a Star Wars starfighter :P

I’ll bet he smiled. Counting all that dough in his mind for Fiat repairs.
Love the car. Never been in one before.

0-60 times? Wait the Fiat is broken down and the sunchaser went to In-N-Out burger for lunch.

This is a very cool car. Congrats!

Congrats. I recall hearing many a Fiat from this time period was made from Russian surplus steel Fiat managed to get their hands on for a good price, so it has the potential of covering the Russian opening in your collection. Although, in general I’d recommend collecting Russian firearms instead of cars.

“I think I get to keep my Jalop card.”
I’m confused. You have a Jalops card with the Sunchaser. Doesn’t this mean that Mrs. IM has her Jalop card and better yet, just upgraded?
Also, she’s a Jalop and you’re are a Jalop...I think you know what you both need to do:
![]() 03/05/2019 at 21:28 |

I hope you’re keeping the cassette deck. That makes the car.

When I was 12 years old (in 1978 ), there was a bright green X1/9 that parked across from my house. I was smitten. I thought it looked like an X wing fighter from Star Wars. So I have always loved that car, even after I found out how underpowered and unreliable they are.
Please tell me you are getting rid of those stickers.....

A roommate at college in 78 or 79 ditched me about 3 miles from home for a girl in one of those. That’s all I can remember about him or the car.

Whooo!
I like it even more than the Sunchaser. I hope you can forgive me.

Wait, did they make non-rusty X 1/9s? I thought that was a standard feature but that is super clean!

I think east German cars count as Soviet. You should get a Trabant

Wow, congrats! Definitely a worthy pick-up.
Looks like it’s in good shape too. Looking fwd to seeing more.

Very nice, I have never owned an Italian car, and need to sometime. My brother and nephew bought one and brought it back to life a couple years ago. But rust and a lot of small, nagging issues led to short term ownership.

Excellent.

God that brings back memories. One of my favourite cars.
Make sure you drive it with the top off in winter - the heater’s ferocious and with the windows up you keep toasty warm apart fr om the top of your head. And revving the guts out of one on a silent country road w ith the lid off on a moonlit snowy night is one of life’s great experiences.

I can support that. However, given the amount of engine one can fit in a TR7 given the size of it...
This one claims 800 HP...

Congrats, that’s a cool little car. I wa s eyeing one locally, but never got as far as taking an in person look.

You know, if you ever want to get rid of the GTI and replace it with a proper german classic, there’s always this wonderful little Axis power gem: https://sfbay.craigslist.org/scz/cto/d/santa-cruz-1980-trabant-for-sale/6817598041.html

This is very close to peak Jalop/OPPO.
You need to ask DeMuro if he wants to come do a feature on each of your cars.

Aww hell yes :) great buy.
Oh, thought of another thing. If you can find a set of the early-style bumpers I’d advise ditching the diving boards. They weigh 18kg/40lbs each! Will help it scoot along a bit quicker ;)
If the ECU is in the same place as mine (in the spare wheel well) then it might be worth ditching the spare as well. Not only does it weigh another 10kg, having it bounce around in there if it’s unsecured has been known to damage the ECU by knocking into it.
Any problems you have with it drop me a message. I’ve done a fair amount on mine now so will definitely be able to help :)

As I said, a real nice find, looks like a rust free west coast car. Also looks like you may have a little uni nt en t ional stance, especially at the left rear wheel(?) although sometimes picture show angles funny , not trying to be a nitpicker or rain on the parade, but wanted to make sure you had a chance to check it out before you get too crazy with it or wear out some tires.
